Victorino deSousa

October 14, 1924 — February 17, 2015

Victorino deSousa 90 of New Bedford passed away Tuesday February 17, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Home. He was the husband of the late Maria do Espirito Santo (Mota) deSousa and son of the late Antonio Victorino deSousa and Maria Patricinia (Medeiros) deSousa. He was born in Ribeira Funda, St. Michael, Azores and had lived in New Bedford since 1969. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. deSousa was formerly employed by Aerovox as a machine operator until his retirement. He was a member of the Senhor da Pedra Club for 45 years and was also a member of the Clube Sport Madeirense. Mr. deSousa loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his children Antonio deSousa, Jose deSousa, Carlos deSousa, Maria deMelo, Maria J. Sousa, Eduarda deSousa, Fernanda Couto, Ceceila Leite, Helena Farpea, and Natalia Ciricello all of New Bedford. His brothers Jose M. deSousa of New Jersey, Fernando R. deSousa of Quebec, Antonio R. deSousa and Humberto R. deSousa both of Kingston, Canada; his sister Conceicao M. Paiva of CA; 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 son-in-laws, 1 daughter-in-law, many nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Jose Leite and brother of the late Manuel V. deSousa, Nicholina M. Medeiros, Natalina M. Medeiros, Patricinia R. deSousa and Altina M. deSousa. His funeral mass will be said 9am Monday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Sunday 3-7pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
